Review by Lollie Weeks

Generation Belly, the album by Clancy Eccles, is a masterpiece that perfectly captures the essence of Jamaican music in the 1970s. The album features a blend of reggae, ska, and rocksteady, with Eccles' unique style shining through in every track.

The album opens with the upbeat track "Fire Corner," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Eccles' smooth vocals and the catchy rhythm make it impossible not to dance along. "Fatty Fatty" is another standout track, with its infectious melody and witty lyrics.

One of the album's strengths is its ability to seamlessly blend different genres. "Bangarang Crash," for example, combines a rocksteady beat with a ska horn section, creating a sound that is both familiar and fresh.

The album's title track, "Generation Belly," is a commentary on the political and social climate of Jamaica at the time. Eccles' lyrics are poignant and thought-provoking, making it clear that he was not just a talented musician, but also a keen observer of the world around him.
