Review by Annisa Handini

Endgame's latest album, Marooned, is a captivating and dynamic journey through the band's signature sound. From the opening track "Lost in Translation," the listener is immediately drawn in by the powerful vocals and intricate guitar work. The album seamlessly blends elements of metal, prog, and alternative rock, creating a unique and engaging listening experience.

Tracks like "The Great Divide" and "The Aftermath" showcase the band's ability to craft complex arrangements that are both technically impressive and emotionally resonant. The drumming on these tracks is particularly noteworthy, providing a driving backbone to the music that propels the listener forward.

The album's title track, "Marooned," is a standout moment that showcases the band's more introspective side. The haunting piano and atmospheric guitar work create a sense of isolation and longing that is both beautiful and haunting.

About Endgame

Endgame is an improvising electronic trio born out of Alan Freeman and Jim Tetlow's work in Shapeshifter, along with Alan's brother Steve Freeman (Alan & Steve also work as Alto Stratus). All 3 are self-taught non-musicians, although Jim is the most musical minded. Established in July 1999, Endgame started with weekly sessions of 2 x 45 minute sets (producing a huge wealth of album material), but have since slowed down to sporadic, with occasional sessions and live gigs. Endgame are fans of Kosmische Krautrock (early Tangerine Dream, Agitation Free, etc.) and improv electronic / classical avant-garde, and reference many such influences in their album/track titles. Their discography is vast.
